J.T. & Emma Pugh's Family

Jonathan Thomas Pugh Jr married Medora Emma Hash. Jonathan Thomas Pugh Jr's parents were Jonathan Thomas Pugh Sr and Jane "Jenie" Phipps. Medora Emma Hash's parents were Hugh Hash and Mary Bagwell.

These are the children of Jonathan Thomas Pugh Jr and Medora Emma Hash:

William Blaine- born 3-14-1885 in Grayson County.  Died 6-16-1904.  Blaine drowned in  the New River at the age of 19.

Charlie  G.- born 12-14-1885.  Died 1941 in Grayson County.  Served in World War I, provided information on Jenie's (his mother) death certificate.

Mary- born in Grayson County.  Believed to have lived in Maryland, Mary Pugh Anson.

Lester Alexandria- born 9/10/1888 in Grayson County.  He died in 1953 and is buried in Sterling, VA.  Lester married Annie Bell Hash (born 12/27/1896 died in 1991) they had 7 children:  Lester Glenn (born 10/16/1917, died 4/8/1970), Marvin Isom, Lou Emma, Rose Ann, Charles Curtis, Emmit Hash, and Evonne. Samuel Pugh- born 6-9-1896 in Grayson County.  Died 2-3-1953 in Grayson County.  Sam was a World War I veteran.  Never married, lived with Walker and Neecie on Fox Creek.

Heath- born in Grayson County.

Mitch- born in Grayson County.  Mitch married Elsie and moved to Nebraska where he lived most of his life.  Mitch and Elsie had one daughter Lavonne.

Stella Mae- born in Grayson County.  Stella married John Rudolph Uebele and lived most of her life in Tappahannock VA.  Their children were Sonny (wife Ann), Dora Cochran (husband Douglas), Mary Skelton (husband Luther), Barbara Brooks (husband Felix), and Jean Edwards (husband Maywood).  (Thanks to Heath Edwards for this updated information!)

Donna Belle- born 2-27-1894 in Grayson County.  She died 12-31-1985 in Grayson County.  She was married to  William Leslie Martin (b.12-16-1889, d. 9-20-1968). (I believe Uncle Leslie to be the son of William Carter Martin from Stokes County NC who served in the Civil War.) I remember Leslie Jr., a son.  I believe they also had a daughter Juanita.

Cone- born 3-16-1902 in Grayson County.  Died 8-31-1945 in Grayson County.  Died unmarried.

Marshall Fields- born 5-12-1904 in Grayson County.  Died 7-13-1972 in High Point, NC.  Married Delta Marie Osborne 3-27-1927 in Sparta, NC.  Fields and Delta lived most of their lives in High Point, NC.  They had one son, Danny Fields.

Mont Walker- born 7-13-1906 in Grayson County.  Died 5-13-1966 in Grayson County.  Married to Neecie Halsey.  Walker and Neecie had 3 children.  Nancy, Scottie (deceased) and Sam.

Nannie- born 9-7-1910 in Grayson County.  Died 10-16-1995 in Grayson County.  Nannie married Steve P. Phipps (b.12-4-1908, d. 11-7-2001) and lived in Northern VA, until moving back to Grayson County in the mid 1950's.  They had one son, Jack, and a daughter, Betty Jo.  Jack and his twin sons, Lane and Zane operate the Phipps Dairy near Mouth of Wilson, VA. Aunt Nannie and Uncle Steve are buried in the Young's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Mouth of Wilson near Oak Hill Academy.  Uncle Steve became Postmaster at Mouth of Wilson in 1953, and was Postmaster until he retired.  He was instrumental in defeating the plan for Appalachian Power to flood much of Grayson County  with a dam on the New River.
